I disagree.
I bet anyone who has criticized Japan Cosplay has dressed up in their favorite sports team uniform and stood up with thousands of other people dressed exactly in the same ridiculous outfit.
Japanese Cosplay can be seen as an art form. It certainly shows a unique sense of style and design.

Harajuku fashion
in his interviews.
Gwen Stefani mentioned Harajuku style and Harajuku girl in her songs and Albums (Stefani even has a Gwen Harajuku girl clothing line and perfumes.
Tokyo teens fashion is setting the style for world fashion.
The work that goes into Cosplay outfits is incredible. Some of them take years to complete and are a never ending project.
A Harajuku Girl will know how to embroider, process leather, and create teddy bears from PVC.
It's a hobby, like any other hobby.
Of course after putting in so much time and effort it's fun to show off what you have created. That's the reason that Cosplay followers gather every Sunday in Harajuku.
Harajuku style is not limited to Girls only. There is a Harajuku boys style too.
