The huge success of Tokyo Disney Resort, led to the decision to open a second park at the same site, and so Tokyo Disney Sea was opened in 2001.

Disneyland Tokyo Adventureland

Adventureland has two theme lands –

The first is The New Orleans French Quarter.
The greatest Attraction here is Pirates of the Caribbean.
It's a pirate boat that takes you on a voyage back to the Old World. The trip takes about 15 minutes.
Along the way you'll see a city that's been set on fire by the pirates, buried treasures, and an extravagant battle between a pirate ship and a Spanish fort. This attraction is suitable for all ages.

The tropical South Sea – has a landscape of lush green plants and waterfalls.

The Jungle Cruise is a 9 minute ride into the tropical rain forests on a steamer boat.
Along the way you'll meet African wildlife and exotic plants.

The Western River Railroad is a steam-powered train which runs through parts of Adventureland (and Critter Country and Westernland).

The Swiss Family Tree house is a replica of the tree house in the Disney movie 'Swiss Family Robinson'.
The movie is from 1960, so for anyone who doesn't belong to that era, a short reminder – it's about the Robinson family who was shipwrecked on an island.
It’s an opportunity to run around in the kind of tree house that every kid dreams about.

The Tiki Room holds a show in which Hawaiian birds and flowers all sing along.
Even the water in the fountain dances and lights up in different colors with the music. The peak of the show is when the Tiki gods and the Guests join along.

Theatre Orleans holds shows in which Minnie Mouse and other Disney characters dance to the beat of spicy Latin music.

Disneyland Tokyo Westernland

The shops and stores along the street of this land are a replica of America's 'Old West'.
The best part of 'Western River Railroad' route runs through Westernland.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is a train ride on a runaway train, zigzagging at high speed though a rocky desert with canyons and an old abandoned mine.

The Westernland Shootin' Gallery is a Wild West saloon setting which has been turned into a shootin' gallery.
The 'Saloon' is filled with interesting targets, each has its own unique reaction to being hit (bottles that jump and boots that dance).

The Country Bear Theater presents a Western-style musical.
The cast of this show consists of Disney bears that sing and play musical instruments.

The Mark Twain riverboat is a cruise through Disneyland Tokyo Rivers of America.
The decoration and authentic design capture the feel and the atmosphere of a a Mississippi River boat.

The Tom Sawyer Island Rafts provide transportation over to Tom Sawyer Island. On the Island, kids can safely enjoy a tree house to climb on, caves to explore, bridges to cross, a large fort and an Indian Village.

The Diamond Horseshoe presents an entertaining lunchtime show.
Pecos Goofy's frontier Revueis a dinner-show with Can-Can dancers and Mickey Mouse.

The shows require reservations. Better to reserve tickets in the morning, immediately when you arrive at Disneyland Tokyo.

Disneyland Tokyo Critter Country

Splash Mountain follows the cartoon tricks of Brer Rabbit.
There is a a log waterfall ride. I have to warn you from this one - it has a huge fall near the end of the ride.
The height is about five stories tall. Tokyo Disneyland publications call it the steepest, highest and wettest drop in the Park.
About a quarter of the way down the fall you get your picture taken. You can buy the photo if you like when you exit the ride.

Brothers Explorer Canoes is a real canoe paddle around the Rivers Of America.
There are two Tokyo Disney guides on the boat, but most of the rowing is done by the guests.
If you prefer to simply ride around the river and enjoy the view, the Mark Twain Riverboat follows the same route as the canoes and requires no rowing on your part.

Disneyland Tokyo Fantasyland

Most of the attractions in Fantasyland are based on popular Disney movies: Snow White, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Pinocchio and Peter Pan.
Tokyo Disneyland main Attraction is Cinderella Castle.
The castle is the focus of fireworks show at night.

The Haunted Mansion is a trip through a creepy house. The trip is funny and occasionally a bit of a scary.

In Snow white's Adventures a small car takes you through scenes from the movie.
All scenes are three-dimensional. The Wicked Queen appears many times along the way, trying to offer the poisoned apple. Some scenes might be scary for young kids.

Peter Pan's Flight takes you on a fanciful flight over old London to never land. You'll meet Peter Pan, Wendy, Captain Hook and other characters from this classic Disney movie.
Most of the scenes take place beneath the car you ride, which gives the impression that you're really flying.

Pinocchio's daring journey is ride in a mine car as you follow Pinocchio's adventures. The ride lasts about 2 minutes.

Dumbo The Flying Elephant is a ride intended for the younger kids. It's a carrousel ride in the air. With a push of a button you can fly higher or lower.

It's A Small World takes you on a boat ride to meet the children of the world. Hundreds of colorful, animated dolls dressed in national costumes participate in scenes from different countries.

Alice's Tea Party is an old-fashioned ride, done in a giant teacup. Like a scene straight out of Disney's Alice in Wonderland.

Pooh's Hunny Hunt is a ride in vehicles that resemble honey pots.
After the first curve you find yourself watching a short video of Christopher Robin giving Winnie the Pooh a balloon.
This is one of the most popular Attractions in Disneyland Tokyo. The lines can be very long, so try it at the very beginning of the day or before closing in the evening.

Disneyland Tokyo Toontown

This part of the park is inspired by a single movie – 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit?'.
In the movie, cartoon characters called 'Toons' actually have a life of their own.
Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin takes you on a cartoon-like cab ride.

Donald's Boat called the 'Miss Daisy', is a boat that looks like Donald Duck.

Goofy's Bounce House has a floor that is like a giant inflated air mattress. Everything in this house is rubbery and inflated, and kids can literally bounce off the walls. Only kids are allowed in here.

Disneyland Tokyo Tomorrowland

Tomorrowland doesn't feel like the world of tomorrow, probably because it's hard to maintain such an advanced front. Still, it has great Attractions.

Star Tours is based on the classic "Star Wars" movies. It takes you on a wild ride through outer space.
The illusion of flight is created through a flight simulator.

MicroAdventure is based on the hit movie, 'Honey I Shrunk the Kids'. Once inside, you are given special 'protective' glasses, and then invited into a large theater to attend the 'Inventor of the Year' awards.
During the awards presentation one of the inventions goes crazy, and you and the rest of the audience are 'shrunk' to micro size.
The protective glasses are simply glasses with lenses which allow you to see the 3-D effects.
Be warned - It is a very popular attraction, do it first thing in the morning or last thing in the evening when lines are shorter.

Buzz Lightyears's Astro Blasters is an electronic shooting gallery. Buzz Lightyear is the character from the movie 'Toy Story'. Here you join a space cruiser and use its Astro Blaster weapons.

The StarJets is a ride in a car shaped to look like a rocket ship.

Grand Circuit Racewayis your chance to drive a racecar. Drivers of all ages can get behind the wheel. The steering wheel is on the right side of the car (that's because we're still in Japan).
Although you actually do steer the car, there is a rail in the middle of the track.

Space Mountain is a beautifully lit dome. Here you can take a high speed ride on board a shiny spaceship into outer space.

Showbase is a covered arena, and is home to some of Tokyo Disneyland's biggest and most popular live stage shows.

Monsters, Inc. Ride and Go seek. The world of the Disney/Pixar film 'Monsters, Inc'.
