Japan Entertainment - Shibuya (c) Guwashi999 at Flickr

It's a wonderful combination of ancient Japanese culture and sophisticated entertainment. In Japan you can have it all.
There is no lack of options to keep you constantly on the go on your Tokyo vacation.

Entertainment In Japan

No Japan Entertainment is complete without visiting Kabuki Theater for a taste of traditional Tokyo nightlife.
The best place to see a Kabuki Theatre Show is in the Kabukiza Theater in Ginza.

It is possible to rent English headphones and see just one act of a play, instead of sitting through a whole performance which lasts more than three hours.
Click here to learn more on Kabuki Makeup and other exciting secrets of the Kabuki theater.

Performing Arts such as opera, 'Buto' dance, musicals, plays and ballet can be enjoyed in Tokyo Opera.

Japanese Art, sounds boring right?
Wrong…
Did you know that Manga (Japanese Comics) is a part of it?
What has Japan Cosplay in Harajuku got to do with it?
Japanese people did an outstanding job of preserving the Ancient Japanese Art.
It is part of everyday life and you see it everywhere.
Art was one of the ways the Japanese found to preserve their unique Japan culture. You can see it in Tokyo Museums, or simply on the streets – in Harajuku Fashion on a Sunday or in Traditional Japanese foods.

Tokyo Japan Shinjuku is considered a great location for Tokyo nightlife.
Good food and drinking, and one of the most popular forms of Japan entertainment - Karaoke. Click on this link to Tokyo nightlife to learn more.

Also recommended is the more internationally-flavored district of Japan, Roppongi. Night clubs are great there.

Roppongi offers many high-class spots for adults, while Shibuya is more young and crowded.

And the upscale and elegant Ginza district of course with its dazzling neon-lit signs.

Tokyo food is one of the greatest pleasures of Japan entertainment.
Traditional Japanese foods come in many forms – from a cheap and cheerful Izakaya (like a Bar, but with better food) to high-end Michelin recommended restaurants.

Michelin Restaurant Guide For Tokyo Restaurants has acknowledged the fact that Tokyo is one of the most amazing cities in the world in terms of restaurants.

I've also prepared a list of Romantic Tokyo restaurants for an evening you will never forget.

Japan Entertainment - Pachinko (c) Luisvilla at Flickr Pachinko machines are uniquely Japanese. You can see them in the photo on your right.

Pachinko parlors are usually kitsch decorated places, with flashing lights and a constant noise from the metal balls, music and announcements.

The players are completely passive while playing pachinko.
Most of the balls fall down the machine and disappear, but a few find their way into special holes. This activates a kind of a slot machine, and the player wins if the same three pictures appear.
The players win balls which they swap for prizes in the parlor's gift shop (teddy bears and the likes....).

Japanese style gardens are a wonderful escape from the Tokyo city buzz.
Some of the Japanese gardens in Tokyo have a small Japanese tea house, where you can participate in a certain part of the Japanese tea ritual, usually a shorter version of it.

If you'd like to participate in a full Japanese tea ceremony, I've prepared a list of several places in Tokyo which hold the Japanese tea Ritual.

Traditional Sports in Japan are a great way to get to know Japan culture.
Japanese swords and Sumo wrestler tournaments are just two of the best Things to do in Tokyo.

I suggest you Buy your Sumo tickets in advance, since Sumo is the national hobby here, and tickets for the professional tournaments are hard to find.

Japan has contributed many very well known sports to the world.
Among them - Sumo, which is a form of wrestling. Most Sumo wrestlers are professional competitors weighing an average of 160 kg, and up to 250 kg!
Japanese swords (Katana) making is considered an art, and the professional knowledge was kept secret. Only few sword smiths today have the knowledge to produce authentic Japanese swords.
Many people visit Tokyo to examine and educate themselves on antique and modern Japanese Samurai swords.
