Numbers 1 - 10 In Japanese:

Did you know that the Japanese consider certain numbers to be lucky or unlucky?

3, 5, and 7 are lucky numbers, 4 and 9 are unlucky.

  • one - ichi
  • two - ni
  • three - san
  • four - shi
  • five - go
  • six - roku
  • seven - Nana/shichi
  • eight - hachi
  • nine - kyu/ku
  • ten - ju


Numbers In Japanese From 11 To 40:

  • eleven - Juichi (10 – ju, plus 1- ichi)
  • twelve - Juni (10 – ju, plus 2- ni)
  • twenty - Niju (two – ni, ten - ju)
  • Twenty one - Nijuichi (2 tens – ni-ju, and one - ichi)
  • thirty - Sanju (3 – san, ten – ju)
  • forty - Yonju


Numbers In Japanese From100 To 1000:

  • One hundred - hyaku
  • 200 - ni-hyaku
  • 300 - san-byaku
  • 400 - yon-hyaku
  • 500 - go-hyaku
  • 600 - rop-pyaku
  • 700 - nana-hyaku
  • 800 - hap-pyaku
  • 900 - kyu-hyaku
  • 1,000 - sen
