From Narita Airport to your Tokyo Hotel: Tokyo Airport Transportation

Info About Gateway Airports In Japan

Narita Airport Transfer: Upon arriving in Tokyo, you can use taxi, Limousine Bus or Japan Rail to get to your Tokyo Hotel.

Narita is the main international airport for Tokyo, and is located 70 kilometers northeast of Tokyo.

Most flights into Tokyo arrive at Narita.

The other Tokyo Airport is called Tokyo Haneda Airport. It serves Domestic and International flights.

Narita Airport Transportation: 3 Ways To Get To And From Tokyo Airport

Before landing in Narita Airport: Know the REAL cost of transfer from Tokyo Airport to your Hotel and don’t pay extra for transportation from Airports In Japan.

Consider a 1-2 hour trip to the city, Since traffic jams at rush hours are a big thing here. Exact time depends on the type of transportation you choose to use.

Here are the 3 Narita Airport Transfer Options

  1. Narita Limousine Bus

Why is it an excellent option?

The Narita Limousine Bus stops at many of the hotels in Tokyo, so it's practically a 'door to door' service.
No carrying suitcases around. Your luggage is put on the bus, and off the bus straight to the hands of the hotel employees.

Even if your hotel is not included in the bus route it would be wise to take a short Taxi drive from the nearest hotel on the route.
The Reason? Going by train means carrying your suitcases up and down train stairs and trying to fit them in the small luggage compartments on the train, and that is not an easy task with heavy suitcases.

The Narita Limousine bus ticket booth (located just before the exit) will help with Info on Hotels on Route, or you can ask your hotel.

  2. JR train lines (Japan Railway)

The Narita Express - NEX, goes to Tokyo Station, Shinjuku and Shibuya.
Travel time to Tokyo Station is around 60 minutes.
If your hotel is not close to the NEX stations, then you will need to change trains and get on the Tokyo Subway which can be a challenge if you have heavy suitcases.
The Narita Express (NEX) is free if you purchased a Japan Rail Pass in advance from your home country.

The Keisei Skyliner Airport Express will take you to Ueno station or Nippori only.
It takes just 36 minutes zipping along a new access route at 160 km/h.
Still, it requires figuring out how to get to your hotel on the Tokyo subway.
This option however is excellent for passengers with special needs since the door width was built for smooth boarding of wheelchair in mind.

Tokyo subway stations are notoriously known for their long passageways, many stairs (no elevators) and are not an easy place to tackle (even without luggage).

Some hotels have a 'Greeting Service' where they send someone to pick you up from Tokyo station and show you through the maze of this huge station.

  3. From Narita By Taxi

In one word - forget it.
the price can climb up to 25,000-30,000¥ ($400). During rush hour even more.

  4. Narita Tokyo Airport Services

Narita international Airport has ATMs, tourist information desks operating 24 hours, and tickets to all transportation options.

The Airport also has Japanese phones for rent.
Can you use your own cell phone in Japan? In most cases the answer is no, but the system is starting to change now.
Renting is the most economical and simple way to get a phone, and requires just a picture ID and a credit card.
Many companies have kiosks at the airports.
