Looking For A Tokyo Restaurant? Top 10 Tokyo Restaurants

Looking For A Tokyo Restaurant? Restaurants in Tokyo that will make you fall in love with Japan.

Tokyo is building a reputation as the "top gastronomic city in the world”, said Bernard Delmas, President of Michelin restaurant guide.

If you're more of a Zagat person, you'll be delighted to learn that Zagat Tokyo is an extensive Guide which covers over 400 restaurants in and around Tokyo.

5 Tokyo Restaurants You Must Visit

This list provides you a very useful starting point for Tokyo food.

If you're out all night and looking for an early breakfast, or if you're prepared to get up very early in the morning to watch the unique tuna auction, try one of the restaurants at Tsukiji Fish Market.

It's the freshest sushi you are ever going to get.
Typically these restaurants have a long queue forming in front of them, but the Sashimi is unbelievable, so don't give up!

  • Daiwa Sushi -
    Price range: $25-100
Address: 5-2-1 Tsukiji, Tsukiji Fish market
  • Sushi Dai -

  • Gonpachi -
A cozy restaurant which inspired the big sword fight scene from 'Kill Bill 2' where Uma Thurman fights by herself a gang of Japanese warriors.
It is also the Tokyo Restaurant where former US president Clinton visited with Prime Minister Koizumi.
There are various locations across Tokyo, but the Nishi-Azabu one is the most impressive.
Lively atmosphere and traditional Japanese interior. 1st and 2nd floor have izakaya style food and drinks - Udon, Soba, Kushi-yaki. 3rd floor serves sushi. Ask for a table on the first floor, or better even – at the bar. The staff speaks English.

    Address: 1-13-11 Nishi-Azabu Minato-Ku.
    Phone: 03-(5771)-0170.

  • Waketokuyama -
Chef Hiromitsu Nozaki is responsible for the delicate, seasonal Japanese food. The set dinner he serves in the evening is usually booked up for weeks in advance.

  • Miyashita -
The full name of the restaurant is Kurayamizaka Miyashita and there are 4 restaurants in the group located in Aoyama, Azabu, Omotesando and Marunouchi.
Each of the restaurants is beautifully designed and trendy.
The menu, which changes each month, uses many seasonal ingredients and provides traditional Japanese food.
The view of the city from the 36th floor is stunning.

There is a famous saying going around in travel guides that you can't really get to know a country without knowing its food.

That is especially true for Japan, since Traditional Japanese food is so different from what you know.

My best advice would be - go eat where the locals eat - even if it's a roadside street cart selling ramen or Okonomiyaki.
I can't imagine a better way to experience traditional Japanese food.

"I appreciate your site and all the effort you have put into it to make it more detailed than most other sites I have been to.
I bookmarked it because I intend to travel to Tokyo soon.
Your site offered more than I needed (in a good way).
I don't really feel like going to any other websites after seeing how nicely organized yours is."
