Tokyo is building a reputation as the ‘dining capital of the world'.
"Tokyo is the top gastronomic city in the world”, said Bernard Delmas, President of Michelin restaurant guide after the first guide for Tokyo was released on Nov 2007.

So here is a list of every Tokyo restaurant with Romantic atmosphere I could recommend. Each Romantic Tokyo restaurant targets a different crowd and budget. My best Romantic Restaurants guide covers them all. Enjoy !!

Find A Romantic Tokyo Restaurant

  • New York Bar and Grill - It is considered one of the most romantic places in Tokyo. Amazing views of urban lights with a top class restaurant and bar. This all happens at the Park Hyatt hotel in the heart of Shinjuku.
You might remember the scene from the movie "Lost in Translation" which was filmed right here.
Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson first noticed each other at the 'New York Bar' on the 52nd floor of hotel.
In the New York Grill the waiters speak decent English, which is unusual in Tokyo. The food is a European-Japanese fusion. The wine list is offers a selection from all the best wine-growing countries in the world.
Make sure you make a reservation in advance, and ask for a table that has good views. You can also count on live jazz. The ultimate romantic hideaway.

    Shinjuku, Tokyo
    Phone: 03-5322-1234

  • The Orchid bar at Hotel Okura - This is a chic and classic bar. The hotel and especially the lobby have the glamour and style of Japan's post war era. The most elegant lobby in Tokyo.

    2-10-4 Toranomon, Minato-Ku
    Tel: 03-35820111

  • Ryugin - For this restaurant you have to make reservations even as early as two months in advance. Reservations are easily made on their website and the map is excellent as well.
This place earned Michelin Guide's two stars out of three. Chef Yamamoto Seiji is a young and creative guy who loves to experiment, and he's won many awards for his innovations.
As of May 2009 the restaurant is serving only one menu so there really isn't a choice to make aside from what you would like to drink.
You can expect a fantastic experience. The menu and cuisine are quite creative.
The medium menu for example, which consisted of about 20 courses, included a soup that was poured from a wine bottle, various meats cooked under cherry leaves, cold shabu-shabu layered over a ponzu jelly sauce, and a Japanese dessert that looked like sushi but was really strawberries on puffed rice.
This is one of the most perfect and aesthetic meals you will ever experience.

Mon Cher Ton Ton also has excellent city views from the 52nd floor. Book in advance.

    Price range: $50-200
    Address: Shinjuku Sumitomo Bldg, 52/F, 2-6 Nishi-Shinjuku
