It’s probably one of the most unique things to do in Tokyo:Followers of Japanese comics and animation- Manga and Anime – decided they enjoy dressing up as their favorite characters.You may have heard of it in one of its different names – Cosplay, Japanese teenage culture and Harajuku fashion. It was created in Tokyo, and evolved into an international trend. Cosplay comes from the words costume + play. Some say it’s the attempt of Japanese youth to turn their back to traditional customs and strict social standards.

It happens every Sunday in the wonderful district of Harajuku, on Jingu Bridge (a pedestrian bridge that connects Meiji Jingu shrine to Harajuku and Omotesando. Harajuku girls and boys are just hanging out with friends, hoping their picture will be taken by one of the many magazine photographers in the crowd.
