My Tokyo Visit, Earthquake Japan Advice
by Myra
(Canada)
I'm planning on Visiting Tokyo In June.
I'm meeting up with a friend whom I haven't seen for 10 years.
Thats why this Tokyo trip is so important to me.
I'd like to ask about the safety of coming over to Tokyo at that time.
I know it's hard to predict, but I'm looking for some assurance.
And if I get to Tokyo, Whats the Best and Cheapest hotel to stay, Not too far from Narita Airport.
Thanks so much.

Hi Myra,
I would love to see into the future, but sadly I can't. What I can tell you from here is that the Japanese people are doing incredible progress in restoring life back to normal. In fact-if you walk down Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto or Mt Fuji, you'll find it hard to believe that Japan Earthquake/Tsunami ever happened.
Of course there is still the radiation problem, which has not been solved up to this time. I believe the next few days will bring critical parts in the nuclear plants back to work. We will most likely have more information about radiation levels in the next 2-3 weeks.
I know that foreign embassies are also doing their radiation level check-ups in order to decide if and when to bring back their employees to Tokyo.
If I were you I would not cancel my trip to Tokyo so fast. This may be your chance to get a cheap flight to Tokyo. Low airfares are guaranteed in June, and if radiation levels present no problem, this is a chance of a lifetime. You can also expect low rates at Tokyo hotels. Earthquake & Tsunami put all tourism in Tokyo out of business, so they will be eager to refill rooms with visitors and help draw tourists back to Japan.
I will do my best to report any new and hopefully comforting information here, on
Japan Earthquake page which is constantly updated.

I'm so glad I found this website! My family and I are going to Thailand in June to visit my mother and had really wanted to go to Tokyo DisneySeas. We assumed we'd have to cancel the Tokyo part which was making us sad. I really hope the radiation problem will be under control by then for the sake of the Japanese people and because I'm really excited to visit Tokyo!
